VANESSA HUA




On April 2, 2019, author Vanessa Hua came to Poly to discuss her works and her creative process. She shared with us how she came up with ideas for her book short story collection, Deceit and Other Possibilitieswhich received an Asian/Pacific American Award in Literature and was a finalist for a California Book Award. She gave examples of real-life stories that she had read in the paper and explained how she incorporated elements into her vignettes. He book, A River of Stars, was on the Washington Post and NPR’s Best Books of 2018 lists, and was been called a "marvel" by O, The Oprah Magazine, and "delightful" by The Economist.
